Canon Hong Kong Volunteer Team Supports Hiking Trail Clean Up to Restore Nature Beauty

Hiking in the countryside to reach out to nature became one of the popular leisure activities for most Hong Kong people during the pandemic. But the influx of visitors has led to an increase of trash generated on the hiking trails, which not only affects the natural environment but also causes hygiene problems. In response to the appeal and spread the message of “Leave No Trace” & “Take Your Litter Home,” Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team joined “Green Hero Challenge 2022,” which was organized by The Green Earth to support the hiking trail clean up and assist in the large-scale countryside litter research in Hong Kong.

On 18 June, the Team visited the Tsz Kwun Ancient Trail in Lion Rock Country Park. With the trash collection equipment including hand gloves, clips and trash bags, volunteers were divided into a group of 4 to pick up trash along the hiking trail during the service. After four hours, about 12 kg of trash was collected and categorized, mostly tissue paper, cigarette butts & food packaging. The Team is happy to help and restore the nature beauty together.

Canon Hong Kong partnered with “The Green Earth” to hold the hiking trail clean up service at Tsz Kwun Ancient Trail located at Lion Rock Country Park.

Despite the hot and wet weather on the service day, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team endeavor their hard effort to collect the trash along the hiking trail.
