As a green organization, Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) has always strived her best efforts to be responsible for environmental care. In addition to implement various green initiatives in its workplace to achieve energy consumption, Canon Hong Kong has been cultivating environmental awareness among employees. Being invited by WWF-HK, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team joined the “Gardening Service Workshop” at Island House, Tai Po on 13 November 2021 to experience the life of a gardener and participate in organic composting to reinforce the importance of green living values.

On the event day, a group of 23 staff and their family members formed the Volunteer Team. With the professional guider from WWF-HK, the Team explored the beauty of Island House architecture and various plant species in the garden. Members were given a chance to use different gardening tools to help removing the weeds, dead leaves and branches, gathering raw materials for organic composting. In the workshop, the speaker shared the important factors for the process of composting. At the end of the workshop, the volunteers were encouraged to take some fully matured organic compost home to start their organic planting to continue green living habits.
