    Canon Hong Kong Receives Caring Company 15 Years Plus Logo for the 17 Consecutive Years

    Since last year, the COVID-19 pandemic has been a challenge for all mankind. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK) has been working closely with different charities. We listen and we always strive to fight the epidemic with the community by utilizing our imaging expertise and resources.

    Since 2002, The Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCC) has launched Caring Company Scheme to honor the sustainable development contribution of company. This year, Canon HK has been honored with “Caring Company 15 Years Plus” logo for our continual commitment in the areas of “Caring for the Community”, “Caring for the Employees” and “Caring for the Environment” for 17 years. Proudly nominated by 8 organizations, it covers a wide spectrum from environmental education, support for disadvantaged group and teenager mental health. The 8 nominating organizations include (listed in no particular order):

    • People Service Centre Limited
    • Arts with the Disabled Association Hong Kong – Non Visual Photography
    • The Green Earth – “Walk for The Green Earth 2021”
    • Suicide Prevention Services – Regular Market Food Collection
    • St James' Settlement – “Lunar New Year Food Donation Program”
    • Vital Employee Service Consultancy - Christian Family Service Centre
    • Image Pro, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals – “Photography Link YOUTH”
    • World Wide Fund for Nature Hong Kong – The Removal of Mikania

    Promoting strategic partnerships between the business community and social welfare sector, the Caring Company Scheme aims to promote business and social service sectors for good corporate citizenship promotion. This year, the number of getting Caring Company/ Caring Organisation logos reached 4,049; the corporate donations have also retained around HK$420 million. Compared with previous record, corporate volunteer activities have been reduced by 25% due to epidemic. Nevertheless, there are more than 160,000 hours of services, demonstrating the enthusiastic from the community during the epidemic.

    Canon HK has been honored with “Caring Company 15 Years Plus” logo for our continual commitment in the areas of “Caring for the Community”, “Caring for the Employees” and “Caring for the Environment” for 17 years.
    Co-organized with People Service Centre Limited, the team also provide regular service to “Surplus Market Food Collection” on every Friday. The program successfully deliver food to the disadvantaged group while rescuing leftovers to be sent to landfills.
    “Non-visual Photography Workshops” is hosted by the Arts with the Disabled Association HK (ADAHK), which shows the misconception of “The blind can’t take photo’. Though the perception of light, sound, touch, various senses, the sighted and the visually impaired could appreciate the arts and image together.
    As one of the members of Corporate Volunteer Team, Mr. Shunichi Morinaga (2nd on the left) cleaned up the trash on the hiking trail at Shing Mun Reservoir Country Park, supporting the event by The Green Earth.
    Organized by Suicide Prevention Services (SPS),  we support “Photography Link YOUTH” project as the “Imaging Partner”. The project is aimed to support youth at-risk by providing a series of photo therapy services, promoting the message of accepting and expressing inner emotion and thought.
    During “Lunar New Year Food Donation Program”, we donated over 210 items to the Kindness Centre of St. James' Settlement, delivering to the disadvantaged families.
    Thanks to the interesting sharing by Vital Employee Service Consultancy - Christian Family Service Centre, our employee learnt Chair Yoga to improve their flexibility, which is an effective exercise for desk workers.
    Supporting social enterprise is also important, therefore we have invited Image Pro, Tung Wah Group of Hospitals for event photography and branding video production for different programmes.
    Organized by WWF-HK, Canon HK Corporate Volunteers was invited to support the removal of Mikania (the exotic vine known as “Plant Killer") in Mai Po Nature Reserve, protecting Mai Po Biodiversity.
