Spreading Warmth: Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team Delivered Food from Colleague’s Donation in the Community
Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) has always collaborated with various social welfare organizations to foster a caring and inclusive society. On 24 February, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team, together with Food Grace, organized a food donation event. Our volunteer team physically handed out 1,000 bags of rice and over 170 packs of dry food donated by colleagues during the Chinese New Year, extending care and blessings to nearly 400 elderly and low-income families in Kwai Tsing District.
Before the event started, the staff of Food Grace explained the procedures for distributing food. Our 10-member corporate volunteer team then sorted the food, checking for expiration dates and food labels, and selected suitable food for the elderly. Once everything was ready, the pre-registered elderly and those in need entered in an orderly manner, each receiving 2 bags of rice and other food items such as biscuits, noodles, canned food, and cereals. The volunteer team maintained proper order while distributing the food, ensuring the event ran smoothly. Not only did the beneficiaries leave with full hands, but their happy smiles also let the our volunteer staff feel the warmth brought to the community by our heartfelt services deeply understanding the meaning of care and sharing.
The food distributed on the day of the event was collected during our food donation activities held over the Chinese New Year. The number of food items collected broke the record for the highest amount collected in the past 7 years. It was only through the enthusiastic donations of colleagues so that we could spread each heartfelt gift, extend a helping hand to those in need, and bring warmth to the community. Canon Hong Kong will continue to support diverse volunteer activities, spreading love and positive energy to more communities.
