Spring Craft Workshop: Canon Hong Kong First Partnered with BGCA to Organize Volunteer Activity
Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) believes that providing a good environment for children’s growth and expansion is one of the keys to promoting social inclusion and sustainable development. To celebrate the Chinese New Year, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team partnered with The Boys' & Girls' Clubs Association of Hong Kong (BGCA) for the first time to organize the " Spring Craft Workshop" volunteer service. The workshop aims to allow children to experience the joyful festivity of the Chinese New Year (CNY) in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere by creating fun and creative CNY crafts.
On 25th January, the workshop started with CNY Fun Fact Quiz Game as an ice-breaking game. The children actively discussed the answers and quickly bonded with the volunteers, filling the room with laughter. Following this, they moved on to making CNY crafts. With the assistance of Canon Hong Kong volunteers, the children twisted the chenille stems into "firecracker" ornaments and hung small spring couplets with the word "Fu" (福，fortune), symbolizing good wishes for the New Year in Chinese. They also created unique snake-themed photo frames using colorful paper strips combining with their creativity, making the frames lively and festive.
In addition, Canon Hong Kong 's volunteer team took photos of each child with their own creations, capturing these beautiful and precious moments for happy sharing with friends and relatives. Moreover, the proceeds from this event will be donated to the “Treasure Trove” under BGCA to support underprivileged children and youth, providing them with opportunities for balanced development and to realize their full potential. Therefore, this event is not just a one-off festive volunteer activity, but also a continuous effort of pursuing our corporate philosophy “Kyosei” by building a caring and inclusive society together.
