Canon Hong Kong Launches New Community Service Program “1-Staff-1-Service”: Volunteering for Impact
This year, we have proudly launched a brand-new corporate volunteer initiative — “1-Staff-1-Service”, encouraging every colleague to dedicate time during working hours to meaningful community service, empowering everyone at Canon Hong Kong to make compassion part of everyday life.
Since its launch in April, 351 colleagues have enthusiastically participated, contributing a total of 847 hours of service. Through collaboration with four local charitable organizations, we have delivered diverse volunteer services to people in need. This initiative not only strengthens team cohesion and enhances personal fulfillment, it also demonstrates our company’s firm commitment to giving back and spreading care throughout the community.
Rooted in Canon’s unique corporate philosophy of Kyosei, we actively collaborate with various local charitable organizations, working together to build a more harmonious, inclusive and fulfilling society. Through the “One Staff, One Service” program, we hope to pass on love and extend warmth to every corner of our neighborhood.
Mr. Gary Lee, President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong (center), fully supports the initiative by joining colleagues in volunteer service side by side.
Food Grace
During the Lunar New Year, the Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team organized a food donation campaign and visited the Food Grace center to help sort and distribute supplies, ensuring families in need could also feel the warmth and joy of the festive season.
At the Mid-Autumn Festival, our volunteers worked together prepared fresh ingredients, cooked nourishing soups and personally delivered them to elderly people living alone in Kwai Chung, bringing not only food, but heartfelt companionship and festive job.
Yan Chai Hospital
Staff shortages in care homes often limit opportunities for elderly residents with mobility issues to enjoy recreational activities. To address this, the Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team visited the Yan Chai Hospital Chinachem Care & Attention Home, accompanying the elderly for walks and chats in the garden, helping them enjoy the greenery, stretch their bodies, and maintain a cheerful mood.
Before every visit, volunteers received a briefing on wheelchair safety techniques and communication methods with the elderly to ensure the entire process was safe, thoughtful, and respectful.
When hot weather or rain prevented outdoor activities, volunteers engaged the elderly in indoor games to add fun to their daily lives. During festive occasions or birthday parties, the team became “joy bringers,” celebrating festive and sharing laughters with the elderly together, making residents feel loved and cared for.
Food Angel
Food Angel handles large quantities of fresh vegetables and ingredients donated by the community daily to prepare nutritious meal boxes for those in need. To cope with the demanding preparation and processing work, the organization relies heavily on volunteer support. The Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team visited its food production centers in Lai Chi Kok, Sham Shui Po, and Sha Tin to help sort fresh vegetables and pack hot meal boxes, supporting efforts to reduce food waste and promote sustainable community care.
Gingko House
Canon Hong Kong has maintained a long-standing partnership with Gingko House, a social enterprise dedicated to promoting elderly employment. We actively support its daily services, including preparing and distributing fresh meal boxes and soups to people in need. Our Corporate Volunteer Team has been regularly visiting Gingko House restaurants in Yau Ma Tei and Yau Tong to assist in preparing and packing meal boxes and soups. Through direct interaction with frontline recipients, volunteers gained deeper insights into community needs, further strengthening our dedication to serving with heart.
