The multifunctional device handles a large number of files, including important business data and its hard disk stores temporary files of each printed, photocopied or scanned file. As a result, hard disk stores large amount of business data and even confidential documents. When the hard disk is lost or removed, commercial data may be disclosed, which in turn may harm to company's interests.
To prevent data leakage from hard disks, Canon comes with two major solutions for imageRUNNER ADVANCE series.
Each temporary file will be erased automatically from the hard disk at specified time. System administrators can choose to overwrite the hard disk 3 to 9 times by random data to ensure the temporary files are completely erased as well as the erase time period and method as part of the daily operation.
The hard disk data erase feature meets the highest standard set by the U.S. Department of Defense in “National Standard for Storage Media Sanitization” of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM) (DoD 5220.22M) to deliver the world's highest level of data security.
In addition to hard disk data erase, hard disk in ImageRUNNER ADVANCE series can be encrypted with 256-bit AES standard, the world's highest standard for encryption to protect data in hard disk. Certified for ISO15408 (general standard) Evaluation Assurance Level 3 (EAL3) in terms of security, the encryption mechanism ensures that information is protected from unauthorized access even if hard disk is lost.
