Canon Hong Kong Enthusiastically Supported “Walk for The Green Earth 2020”
Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK) enthusiastically sponsored and supported the annual fundraising walkathon “Walk for The Green Earth” and sent its hiking team to challenge 12km night walk in Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung, organized by The Green Earth (TGE) on 11th January 2020. All participants have brought along their own reusable water bottles and food containers, took their litter home and avoid unnecessary waste generation to countryside.
Kicked start at 4pm walking till dusk, participants admired the beauty of sunset with traditional snacks provided by the organizer. They could also enjoy the stunning starlight with the aid of star-gazing guides and astronomic telescopes. There was also light painting photographers to take unique photos for participants. All of them had a fruitful night to learn the history of plastic usage in Hong Kong. This inspired them to best utilize plastics for reducing waste, creating a low-carbon and waste-reducing living environment.
The walkathon has received overwhelming support from over 800 participants and successfully raised approximately HK$600,000 in total, for supporting TGE’s campaigns and education programs, to further nurture the habit of “Zero Waste”.
