Canon Group Companies Joined Forces to Support "Earth Hour 2024"
Earth Hour by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) is one of the largest global environmental movements, drawing attention to various environmental issues each year. This year, Earth Hour 2024 focuses on the theme of “Give an Hour for Earth” to address the global crises that threaten lives on Earth, including climate change, which brings extreme and destructive climate, deforestation, forest degradation, and forest biodiversity loss. The twin interlinked global crises will bring along the risk of species extinction and endanger the living environment of the next generation.
By urging everyone to support and switch off non-essential lights from 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm on the last Saturday of March each year, WWF encourages us to rethink the way we live from this starting point. We can change our approach to food, fitness and wellness, outdoor activities, creativity, entertainment, and sustainability, reconnect with nature and contribute to the well-being of our planet.
Joined WWF with the same goal of environmental protection, Canon Group actively responds to the appeal and invites its global subsidiaries to support the "Earth Hour" event, demonstrating our commitment to environmental protection. Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa, President & CEO of Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong), also encourages colleagues to join by signing the pledge and taking further actions for a sustainable future.
