Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team and Hong Kong Family Welfare Society Visit Elderly Singletons at Dragon Boat Festival

Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) cooperated with different social welfare organizations for years, to bring love and care to different communities in the society. Traditional Chinese festivals like Dragon Boat Festival are time of family reunion and celebration, but for the elderly singletons, they may have to spend the festival alone. Therefore, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team collaborated with Hong Kong Family Welfare Society (HKFWS) to organize a singleton elderly home visit. On 8 June, we visited a total of 28 elderly singletons in the public housing estates in Yau Tong to spread joy over the festive season.

The volunteer team members interacted with the elderly sincerely by chi-chatting and listening to their sharing about their daily lives. Followed by guidance provided by HKFWS, the volunteers assessed the daily life habits, physical conditions and living environment of the elderly. This helped HKFWS to identify the elderly in need and to carry out the follow-up matters for improving their quality of life. In addition, the volunteers also presented the elderly with rice dumplings and fortune bags containing food and daily necessities.

In the future, Canon Hong Kong will continue to organize different kinds of volunteer services. Upholding the corporate philosophy of “Kyosei”, we will go into the community, share love with people in need, and contribute to the well-being of mankind by living and working together sustainably.
