Canon Hong Kong Organized Blood Donation Day To Save Lives
Blood transfusion is an indispensable component of health care, which may even be life-saving in various medical conditions. It contributes to save millions of lives each year in routine and emergency operations. In response to the appeal of the low blood inventory level during the fifth wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, Canon Hongkong Co., Ltd. (Canon Hong Kong) organized Blood Donation Day soonest upon the release of social distancing rules and invited Canon Engineering Hong Kong Co., Ltd (CEHK) to join and support on 12 May. Altogether, 31 packs of qualified blood have been donated to the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service (BTS).
Every few seconds, someone needs a blood transfusion. According to the sharing of the New York-Presbyterian experts, blood donation not only helps recipients but also offers health benefits for the donors themselves. Through a health screening before blood donation, potential health problems would be revealed. Regular blood donation also brings other benefits, such as lower blood pressure and a lower risk for heart attacks.

In the time of the pandemic, Canon Hong Kong has arranged precautionary measures to protect the safety of participants, for example, wearing masks, checking temperature, cleaning hands with alcohol sanitizer and keeping social distance between the beds.
