Forests are one of the backbones of the Earth's ecosystem, which plays a significant role in mitigating climate change and maintaining biodiversity. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) has always been committed to the corporate philosophy of "Kyosei", making relentless efforts in environmental conservation. This year, Canon Hong Kong participated in the "Country Parks Plantation Enrichment Programme" leaded by The Green Earth for the 5th time, contributing to the protection of local country parks, carbon reduction and environmental greening.

The Planting Day was held on 3 May at Tai Lam Country Park. Led by Mr. Gary Lee, President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong, a corporate volunteer team of 40 members from Canon Hong Kong, Canon Engineering Hong Kong Co., Ltd. and Canon Electronic Business Machines (H.K.) Co., Ltd. participated together. Each volunteer carried 3 to 4 saplings and shovels, walked along the trails to the reforestation area. Under the professional guidance of The Green Earth staff, they planted and watered a total of 150 native saplings across 13 different species, such as Callery Pear, Rough-leaved Holly and Hance’s Syzygium. The flowers and fruits of these species will attract more wildlife to inhabit and provide food, thereby enhancing ecological value and increasing local biodiversity. Our team also took the opportunity to revisit the saplings planted during last year's Tree Planting Day to observe their growth and the positive impact of our ongoing efforts, providing a rewarding and fulfilling experience with a sense of connection to nature.

Each seedling is not just a step towards carbon reduction and environmental greening but also symbolizes our enduring commitment to environmental protection. Canon Hong Kong will continue to support various green initiatives, actively reduce carbon emissions, help increase biodiversity and work together to build a better, sustainable society!
