Its f/1.8 large aperture can also help creating impressive close-up images with soft bokeh.

Up to 5-Stop[2]Optical Image Stabilization to Facilitate Handheld Shooting

The lens optical image stabilizer offers up to 5-stop shake compensation[2]to facilitate handheld shooting with a slower shutter speed. When used with the EOS R series cameras equipped with In-Body Image Stabilization, a stunning 6.5-stop[3] shake compensation is achieved through Coordinate Control IS. Moreover, the lens also features Canon’s Hybrid IS, which corrects both angle-based and shift-based camera shake common in macro photography, providing up to 3-stop shake compensation[4] at 0.5x magnification.

High Speed AF and Excellent Operability

The RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM is equipped with a Gear-type STM, which AF is quieter than previous models without lowering the AF speed. This is made possible by making the focusing lens lighter and using a lower gear ratio to reduce the STM motor rotation. The Gear-type STM, working in tandem with high-performance CPU and EOS R Series’ Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology, provides high speed and smooth AF for still images and video shooting.
The lens is also compatible with Electronic full-time MF[5] , focus can be adjustment manually with focus ring anytime during ONE SHOT AF or SERVO AF.

When it comes to operability, the lens incorporates the RF lens Control Ring to enable easy adjustment of assigned settings such as ISO speed, shutter speed or aperture value directly from the lens. This makes operation a breeze and brings maximized efficiency especially when shooting through the electronic viewfinder.
