Canon Hong Kong Receives ISO45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety Management System Certificate

The provision of a healthy, safe and comfortable environment for employees and customers has always been a prime objective for Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK). Since the early days of the 2000s, the company has invested substantially in the implementation of Occupational Health & Safety Management System (OHSMS), aiming to minimize chances of injury or illness to employees and all other stakeholders, via a series of hazard identification and risk assessment works. And the effort did not go unnoticed, in 2005, Canon HK was awarded the OHSAS18001 OHSMS certificate, recognition on its effort in promoting OHS management.

In 2018, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) released ISO45001, a new OHSMS standard to replace the obsolete OHSAS18001. Upon the release, Canon HK planned for the migration right away and succeeded in migrating its OHSMS to the new standard in slightly more than a year. In April this year, the company has passed the certification audit and thus received a certificate of ISO45001. The new standard, not only did it requires an organization to demonstrate thorough understanding on its operation context; it also requires the organization to ensure employees of all levels can take part in the decision of OHS related matters in the company. Therefore, one may expect that OHS decisions within Canon HK would be made in better harmony with the needs of the organization, the staff and other stakeholders.

Canon HK receives ISO45001:2018 Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Management System Certificate. The revamped OHS Management System aims at chances of injury or illness to all stakeholders, through a series of hazard identification and risk assessment works, plus enhanced employee participation.
Canon HK organizes Fruit Day regularly to promote healthy diets and lifestyles among colleagues.
Promoting wellbeing at work benefits both employees and the company.
To provide our staff with a healthy working environment, we have participated in the "Indoor Air Quality Certification Scheme" organized by the Environmental Protection Department (EPD) since 2005.
