Canon Hong Kong is being Nominated for the

iRecycle Sustainability Award for the First Time

To combat climate change and the challenges associated, enterprises have put heightened focus on sustainability planning. The effortless achievements of Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) in promoting sustainability have been well recognized by the “iRecycle Charitable Foundation” and we are delighted of being nominated for the "iRecycle Sustainability Award" for the first time.

The award ceremony was held on 16 August at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre, aiming at commending the outstanding performance of enterprises in ESG fields and promoting green procurement. Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa, President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong, expressed his gratitude of receiving the award for the first time "We are deeply grateful for the nomination and prestigious award from the iRecycle Charitable Foundation, which fully indicates the contributions of Canon Hong Kong to sustainable development. Looking ahead, we will continue to improve our practices to make a positive impact on the environment and our community.”

Over the years, Canon Hong Kong has integrated ESG concepts into daily operations. As early as 2009, we launched the "Ink Cartridge Recycling Program" to encourage the public to recycle used inkjet printer cartridges. The program was extended to the education sector in 2011 with the annual "Canon x McDull Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition" to raise green awareness among students. Over 276,000 ink cartridges were collected, with more than 6.3 tons of plastics recycled and 9.5 tons of CO2 emissions reduced, equivalent to the amount absorbed by 414 trees annually.

Besides, we actively promote environmental protection within the office and host the “Green Intelligence Office Tour” to share our green practices and solutions with partners and clients. We also encourage employees to regularly participate in various recycling activities, such as Lai See Reuse, Recycle and Food Donation, Moon Cake / Box Recycling and Used Items Recycle and Donation. Since 2019, we have published the annual CSR Report, which comprehensively covered Canon Hong Kong's commitment and measures in sustainable development. We also entrusted a third-party consultant to independently verify the carbon emission data and continuously improve the disclosure levels and transparency.
