Canon Hong Kong was awarded “Servicing and Trading - Gold Award” under 2016 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence
Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK) pursues to become an excellent and socially responsible company which supports sustainability. Under the 2016 HKAEE, there were 1445 applications from 15 sectors joined the award. Canon HK is honored to be recognized with the Gold Award of 2016 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence (HKAEE) in the Servicing and Trading sector.
HKAEE is one of the most prestigious and reputable award schemes in Hong Kong. The award scheme assesses performance of companies on the aspects of Green Leadership, Programme and Partner Synergy. These elements are considered to be vital in the overall integration of environmental measures within the organization.
Canon HK’s key achievements in environmental protection include:
- Utilization of electronic workflow to replace paper forms for more than 45 work processes which not only reduce paper consumption but also increase work efficiency.
- Introducing extensive recycling programmes for customers to return used products for recycling (e.g.: toner bottles, toner cartridges, ink cartridges, etc.) and organizing environmental education programs for the public (e.g.: Canon x McDull Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition ).
- Participating in variety of environmental voluntary activities, such as, removal of Mikania, collection of leftover foods at wet market, waste removal at coastal area, organic farming, etc.
This is the second time Canon HK receive the award under HKAEE since 2012, this affirmed our continual efforts in realizing our corporate philosophy “Kyosei” and our contribution towards the environmental pillars of sustainability.
HKAEE is led by the Environmental Campaign Committee (ECC) alongside the Environmental Protection Department and in conjunction with nine organizations. The HKAEE is an annual award which aims to encourage organisations to implement environmental management, to measure organisations’ performance on their commitment to environmental management, and to recognise organisations with excellence performance on environmental management.
The award ceremony held on 4th May 2017 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. Mr. Shunichi Morinaga, President and CEO of Canon HK received the Gold Award of the 2016 HKAEE (Servicing and Trading sector) from Mr. CY Leung, Chief Executive of HKSAR.
