Canon Officially Launches the EOS R Mirrorless Camera EOS R100 - Canon HongKong

HONG KONG, 20 June 2023 — Canon Hongkong today announces the official launch of EOS R100, the new smallest and lightest ^[1] EOS R mirrorless camera. The new camera inherits the RF lens mount^[2] and leverages the advantages of EOS R system , with operational ease and impressive image quality in compact form factor. Equipped with 24.1-megapixel APS-C size CMOS image sensor, together with operational ease and compact design, EOS R100 is best suited for entry photo amateurs.

The ultra-compact 356g (with battery and memory card) EOS R100 is the smallest and the lightest^[1] EOS R Mirrorless Camera. Thanks to the advantages of larger-diameter, short back focus distance and greater freedom in lens design offered by the RF mount^[2]. EOS R100 features an approx. 24.1 megapixels APS-C size Canon CMOS image sensor and DIGIC 8 digital imaging processor. It is easy to slip into your everyday bag and carry around, while always ready to capture every invaluable moment anytime, anywhere with great details.

Canon’s unique Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology enables quick, steady focus acquisitioned and tracking over almost the entire image area^[3]. Maximum AF coverage on EOS R100 is as large as up to around 100% (Vertical) x 88% (Horizontal) of the image area, while this area is divided into up to 143 zones for more efficient and accurate focus acquisition. With Face and Eye detection AF^[4], EOS R100 enables a fast, highly accurate detection on the subjects within the wide area, while precisely capturing every single movement with high-speed continuous shooting^[5] of up to 6.5 FPS, or up to 3.5 FPS^[6] in Servo AF mode. The camera inherits the same 0.39-inch 2.36M-dot OLED Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) of EOS R50, and a 3-inch 1.04M-dot LCD monitor is implemented, easier to differentiate the photo or video quality in the single moment.

To support photo capturing in dim lighting, EOS R100 has a built-in retractable flash with a Guide Number of 6 (m, ISO 100). It supports E-TTL II Flash Metering, with the assistance of ISO range setting 100-12800 (expandable to ISO 25600), which helps every user to get well-lit shots in darker scenes or backlight.

Supporting the needs of entry users, EOS R100 retains the traditional 5-pin hot shoe to maximize compatibility with flashes. EOS R100 also supports Remote Switch RS-60E3 in addition to Bluetooth Wireless Remote Control BR-E1, further expanding the flexibility for users.

EOS R100 supports 4K UHD^[7] movies as well as HD High Frame Rate^[8] movie recording, with 4K and FHD Timelapse^[9] movie recording functions available in the meanwhile.
