Canon Hong Kong Honored for 20 Consecutive Years of Support for the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” and Long-term Contributions to Reducing Electronic Waste
Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) is committed to practicing the corporate philosophy of "Kyosei" by actively implementing environmental protection and carbon reduction measures across business operations and corporate activities. Among these efforts, resource recycling remains one of the key initiatives. Recently, Canon Hong Kong was presented with the Certificate of Appreciation for supporting the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” organized by the Hong Kong Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling Association (HKWRA) for the 20th consecutive year. We are honored to be one of the awardees and remain dedicated to promoting and practicing electronic product recycling.
We have been supporting the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” for the 20th consecutive year since 2005. As the first voluntary producer responsibility scheme in Hong Kong, the program is funded by suppliers, importers and retailers of rechargeable batteries and electrical / electronic equipment, bearing the shared responsibility to recycle rechargeable batteries. The Association has engaged with Green Community, along with over 17 public and private organizations, and more than 3,000 residential, commercial, and industrial buildings across Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories. Together, they have established over 3,800 collection points for collecting rechargeable batteries. The program has successfully collected more than 1,190 tones (equivalent to 9 million pieces) of rechargeable batteries for recycling since it launched.
In addition to participating in public recycling initiatives, Canon Hong Kong also arrange extensive internal recycling schemes to reduce the landfill burden, such as installing ink cartridges recycling boxes , creating item-sharing corners, and organizing donation programs. Our relentless contributions in environmental conservation have earned widespread recognition from different stakeholders including HKWRA.
We will continue to promote environmental protection and sustainable development by leveraging AI and green innovation technology to offer forward-looking perspectives and intelligent solutions to the market. We will also collaborate with different sectors to foster a green culture and build a sustainable future together.
