Canon Hong Kong Received Two Prestigious Awards at the Ming Pao ESG Awards for Three Consecutive Years

In light of the growing challenges brought by extreme weather, as a responsible corporate citizen, Canon incorporates the "Environmental, Social and Governance" (ESG) principles into its product production cycle and business operations. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) has been repeatedly recognized for outstanding achievement in the field of ESG. We are proud to receive two awards in the "Environmental, Social and Corporate Governance Awards" of Ming Pao for three consecutive years, securing 2025 “Award for Excellence in ESG” and “Elite of Sustainability Performance Award”.

With the corporate philosophy of "Kyosei", Canon Hong Kong actively promotes a green business model guided by the principle of “Canon Group Environmental Charter”. We organize the “Green Intelligence Office Tour” and invite valued business partners to visit our office where we can collaborate and explore the possibilities of smart solutions. We also provide one-stop intelligent business applications to create green and smart offices with automated workflow, enabling corporate clients to enhance operational efficiency and ESG performance. From 2024, we also extended the tour to Schools and SEN children to let them understand how the latest office environment operates.

In addition, we launched the "Ink Cartridge Recycling Program" since 2009, setting up over 300 recycling boxes in various districts across Hong Kong. In 2011, we extended the program to the education sector, organizing the annual "Canon x McDull Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition" and environmental seminars for primary and secondary schools. Over the years, we have collected more than 280,000 ink cartridges, recycled over 6.3 tons of plastics, and reduced over 9.5 tons of CO2 emissions, equivalent to the amount absorbed by 414 trees annually.

At the same time, we actively participate in various corporate social responsibility activities, such as tree planting, ecological tour and beach cleaning, blood donation, food donations and complimentary photo shoot and print services for underprivileged students. Furthermore, the Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team, established in 2015, has accumulated over 10,000 hours of service to date.

To continuously enhance our information disclosure and increase transparency, we publish the annual ESG Report, which comprehensively covers Canon Hong Kong's commitments and measures towards sustainable development. We have also engaged independent third-party consultants to verify our carbon emission data, ensuring alignment with market trends and best practices in ESG disclosure.

The Ming Pao ESG Awards, jointly organized by the Ming Pao Newspaper and the Institute of ESG and Benchmark, aim to recognize Hong Kong enterprises that demonstrate outstanding ESG performance and make positive contributions to society. A panel of judges from various sectors, the government and academia assess the companies' sustainability strategies, implementation and disclosure of progress in choosing individual award winners. This year, a total of 21 Hong Kong enterprises have won awards in the "Award for Excellence in ESG" under three categories: "Listed Companies", "Non-listed Companies", and "Excellence in ESG Projects".
