Canon officially launches the large-aperture ultrawide- angle L-series prime lens - RF14mm F1.4 L VCM, and the world’s first 190° Angle of Viewfisheye zoom lens - RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM

HONGKONG, 24th February 2026 — Canon today officially launches two groundbreaking additions to its RF lens lineup - the RF14mm F1.4 L VCM and the RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM—designed to empower photographers and video creators with unprecedented optical performance, creative flexibility, and mobility.

With its ultra-wide 14 mm focal length and F1.4 aperture, the RF14mm F1.4 L VCM delivers exceptional image quality across the whole frame and stunning bokeh. Adding an ultra-wide lens to the ultra-fast F1.4 single focal length hybrid RF lens series lineup makes it possible to cover a wide focal range from 14 mm to 85 mm and addresses the diverse needs of photographers and video creators.

The RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM is the world’s first fisheye zoom lens capable of covering a 190° circular fisheye angle of view1. When mounted on a full-frame EOS R camera, it provides both 190° circular fisheyeand 180° diagonal fisheye shooting effects. When used with an APS‑C EOS R camera, it delivers ultra-wide angle zoom shooting, including 180° diagonal fisheye effects3. Circular fisheye shooting captures a 190° field of view2 horizontally and vertically, creating unique compositions with subjects framed inside a circle. Compared to the EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye USM, the angle of view has been widened by 10°, allowing users to include more surrounding details and achieve striking distortion effects. Diagonal fisheye shooting offers a 180° diagonal field of view, delivering dynamic perspectives that make full use of the frame.

RF14mm F1.4 L VCM: Exceptional Image Quality

The RF14mm F1.4 L VCM redefines what is possible with an ultra-wide prime lens, offering a 14 mm focal length paired with a fast F1.4 aperture—a first for a Canon lens at this focal length. Its advanced optical configuration includes fluorite, UD, and BR elements, along with Air Sphere Coating (ASC) and Subwavelength Structure Coating (SWC) that minimize chromatic aberration, flare, and ghosting. Fluorite lens is featured for the first time in Canon’s ultra wide-angle lens, along with a UD lens, to suppress lateral chromatic aberration and achieve clear, sharp image quality with minimal color fringing even at the edges of the frame. This allows the lens to deliver crisp detail, edge to edge sharpness, and beautifully smooth bokeh, even in demanding scenes such as nightscapes, star photography, and architectural interiors.

RF14mm F1.4 L VCM: Thoughtfully Engineered

Beyond optical excellence, the RF14mm F1.4 L VCM boasts a compact, lightweight design ideal for carrying. Despite its bright aperture, the lens weighs just 578 g and an overall length of about 112 mm. Its compact, unified barrel design aligns with other ultra-fast F1.4 single focal length hybrid RF lenses, enabling seamless multi lens setups during production.

RF14mm F1.4 L VCM features a rear-focus system powered by a VCM (voice coil motor)4, which ensures fast, precise autofocus and smooth, quiet performance for video. Focus breathing is effectively minimized, enabling consistent framing during motion capture. The addition of a manual iris ring5, which supports 1/32-stop aperture adjustment during movie shooting6, provides intuitive aperture control — particularly valuable for filmmakers seeking gradual exposure transitions. This thoughtful engineering makes the lens ideal for mobile crews, documentary style shooting, and high-end hybrid content creation.

RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM: Immersive Visuals

The RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM stands out as the world’s first fisheye zoom lens offering a full 190° angle of view1, giving creators access to dramatic, immersive perspectives unmatched by traditional ultra-wide lenses. The zoom range allows for both 190° circular fisheye2 and 180o diagonal fisheye shooting on full frame cameras, while APS C EOS R camera users benefit from 180o diagonal fisheye coverage3

With its expanded field of view—10° wider than its EF predecessor—the lens allows users to capture more surrounding details, making it ideal for action sports, VR content creation, creative editorial work, and high impact visual storytelling. Its optical design features 2 Replica Aspherical lenses and 5 UD elements to maintain clarity and contrast across the frame, while ASC coatings reduce flare, preserving the exaggerated curvature characteristic of fisheye imagery without compromising image quality.

RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM: Precision Control to Elevate Creative Command

Designed for versatility in both stills and video, the RF7-14mm F2.8-3.5 L FISHEYE STM incorporates a fast, quiet STM autofocus system that ensures smooth, highly responsive operation. This makes it ideal for capturing fast moving subjects, dynamic handheld shooting, and stabilized footage where silent focusing is essential. The rear focus architecture reduces focus breathing, ensuring stable, consistent compositions throughout focus pulls.

The lens’s lightweight 476g build enhances mobility, while its close focusing capability of 0.15m with 0.35x magnification (at 14mm) makes visually striking close ups possible—even at ultra-wide angles. Its compatibility with drop in filters, including Drop-in Variable ND Filter A and Drop-in Circular Polarizing Filter A, further supports professional grade video workflows.

1. Among lens for interchangeable lens cameras compatible with 35mm full-frame sensors. As of 4th February 2026; research by Canon.

2. The camera models that support full circular fisheye shooting during video recording are EOS C400, EOS C50, and EOS R6 Mark III, which are compatible with open gate recording. For the EOS C400, firmware ver. 1.4.0.1 or later is required. As of 5th February 2026.

3. This lens is designed to provide fisheye effects throughout the entire zoom range.
4. This lens emits weak magnetism, if users with implanted cardiac pacemakers or other medical device experience any abnormalities, stop using the product immediately and consult a doctor. When the lens is not attached to the camera or the power switch of the camera is in the off status when the lens is attached, shaking the lens may cause the internal lens group to shift and noise may occur, but this is not a malfunction. Although the internal lens group shifts due to vibration such as when the lens is carried, this will not affect aspects such as performance.

5. The iris ring can be used to set the aperture value when shooting still images with EOS R5 Mark II or later EOS camera only. During movie shooting, when using the iris ring operation, focusing on a subject by autofocus may be difficult.

6. Depends on camera setting, aperture value is displayed in 1/2-stop or 1/3-stop. The aperture value displayed on the camera may differ from the actual aperture value.
7. Maximum magnification at center of screen.
