Canon Hong Kong Actively Supports Lai See Recycling, Reuse and Food Donation for a Greener, More Inclusive Future

The Chinese New Year is a time of reunion and blessings. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) hopes to extend this spirit of warmth to the wider community. During the festive season, we actively participated in red packet recycling and food donation activities, using the power of corporate action to promote a greener celebration and support the community’s sustainable development.

Canon Hong Kong supports Greeners Action's “Lai See Reuse and Recycle Program” for the 15th consecutive year, together with Canon Engineering Hong Kong (CEHK) and Canon Electronic Business Machines (CEBM), encouraging employees and families to make recycling and reuse of packets a regular habit. Launched in 2009, the program has reached an accumulated collection of over 88 million red packets. Aiming at advocating the public to reuse red packets and reduce waste, the program has been actively promoted through both online and offline channels.

As one of the sponsors, we have set up multiple collection boxes in our office to facilitate employee participation and successfully collected over 5,100 red packets for recycling. Greeners Action will process the collected red packets through 13 sheltered workshops operated by social welfare organizations, creating nearly 2,000 work opportunities for people in need. They will turn the recycled red packets into “Reborn Lai See” for free public distribution in the following year, putting the concept of a “circular economy” into practice.

This year also marks the 8th consecutive year that Canon Hong Kong has organized a food donation activity. We were pleased to collaborate once again with Food Grace, participating in their "Blessing Across the City" (膳心貫全城) New Year gift box and food recycling campaign. With the enthusiastic support of our colleagues, a total of 1,876 bags of rice and over 190 food items of various types were donated. This remarkable achievement once again breaks previous records and truly reflects the team’s solidarity and compassion.

Mr. Gary Lee, President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong (Third from the left) led a food collection tour to call for action among colleagues to collect different food items for charity purposes.

Canon Hong Kong donated 1,876 bags of rice and over 190 food items of various types to the Food Grace.

Canon Hong Kong has supported Greeners Action’s “Lai See Packet Recycling and Reuse Program” for 15 consecutive years, contributing to environmental protection through continuous action.

Over 5,100 pieces of red packets were collected from different Canon Hong Kong offices in collaboration with CEHK and CEBM.
