Canon Hong Kong Recognized for 21 Consecutive Years of Support for the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” and Long-standing Environmental Commitment

Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) remains steadfast in the corporate philosophy of "Kyosei" by advancing carbon reduction and environmental protection across business operations and corporate activities. Recently, Canon Hong Kong was awarded the Certificate of Participation by the Hong Kong Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Recycling Association (HKWRA) in recognition of the company's support for the "Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program" for 21 consecutive years and the outstanding contributions to responsible recycling. Canon Hong Kong is deeply honored to receive this recognition and remains devoted to driving electronic product recycling and long-term sustainable development. 

Canon Hong Kong has been supporting the “Rechargeable Battery Recycling Program” for the 21st consecutive year since its inception in 2005. As the first voluntary producer responsibility scheme in Hong Kong, the program is funded by suppliers, importers and retailers of rechargeable batteries and electrical / electronic equipment, bearing the shared responsibility to recycle rechargeable batteries. Currently, the initiative spans GREEN@COMMUNITY, over 17 public and private organizations, and more than 3,000 residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, establishing over 3,800 collection points across Hong Kong, Kowloon, and the New Territories. To date, the program has successfully collected over 1,230 tones (equivalent to 9 million pieces) of rechargeable batteries for recycling. 

Apart from supporting community-wide recycling initiatives, Canon Hong Kong actively implements a series of internal recycling schemes. By setting up ink cartridge recycling boxes, providing item-sharing corners for colleagues to exchange unused items in good condition, as well as hosting regular food, rice and mooncake donation activities, we encourage employees to embrace green living and contribute to waste reduction at source to relieve pressure on landfills.
