Canon Hong Kong Supports Orbis World Sight Day for 20 Consecutive Years
Eyes are the windows to the soul and our connection to the world. As an imaging expert, Canon is always keen on advocating the importance of vision and eye health, as sight enables us to admire beautiful landscapes and appreciate photography masterpieces. Therefore, Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) has been supporting the Orbis World Sight Day for 20 consecutive years since 2004, making significant contribution to instill hope of vision into patients with eye diseases.
Initiated by the World Health Organization and International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness, “World Sight Day” is held on the second Thursday of October every year. Orbis organizes an array of fundraising activities with different themes each year to focus global attention on vision impairment and bring people together to fight against avoidable blindness. During the 2 weeks of internal donation period, 172 colleagues from Canon Hong Kong and Canon Electronic Business Machines (H.K.) Co., Ltd. actively participated and showed tremendous support, resulting in a record high of donation amount in the recent 4 years. We are also honored with the 4th Runner-up of Most Participant Organization Award for the 2nd consecutive year, truly reflecting our commitment to inject positive energy into the community.
The theme of this year’s Orbis World Sight Day is “Share the Joy of Sight”, encouraging everyone to treasure their sight and generously donate to fuel the global sight-saving mission of Orbis. Canon Hong Kong will also keep up the momentum and join hands with Orbis to bring a brighter world to the eye disease victims!
Canon Hong Kong has extended long-standing support to Orbis World Sight Day for 20 consecutive years with constant support from colleagues.
