Integrated Virtual and Physical Hiking Experience

Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK) has sponsored and supported the annual fundraising walkathon “Walk for The Green Earth”, organized by The Green Earth (TGE) for 4 consecutive years. Besides raising funds to support the Green Earth’s education program, the event aims to promote the “zero-waste” culture especially during the pandemic which more plastic wastes like plastic bags, disposable masks, take away utensils are created.

The event has integrated with diversify online activities and physical hiking activity in a creative format under social distancing measures. Participants challenged the 8km walk along with Tai Tam or other self-preferred routes any time during 16 January and 16 February, then sent the record when completed to the TGE.

Besides, a series of online activities are specially tailored for participants to let them get closer to nature:
Forest Healing with Sound Navigation - A certified guide led participants through the mindful journey using sound navigation, felt the nature mentally and physically.
Stargazing Lesson - A professional tutor from Ho Koon Nature Education cum Astronomical Centre, sharing astronomical knowledge and taught how to make an own star map with participants.
Laughter Yoga – Exercise with an international laughter yoga instructor, learned to relax and enhance positive energy.
Online Night Safari in Hong Kong – A professional tutor from Outdoor Wildlife Learning, introducing Hong Kong’s night ecology and nature conservation.

11 Canon HK staff participated in the meaningful event. They appreciated the new format and flexible arrangement, which allowed them to enjoy the beauty of nature and all the special online learning topics.

28 Feb 2020 — Canon Hong Kong advocate Green Happy Lunar New Year for the 9th consecutive year Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon HK) has been participating in Greeners Action’s Red Packet Recycling Program, as the Red Packets Sponsor, for the 9th consecutive year, which aims to encourage all Canon HK staff and its family members to develop the habit of reuse and recycle as well as to promote the concept of environmental conservation.This year, Canon HK continuously joined the programme together with Canon Engineering Hongkong (CEHK) and Canon Electronic Business Machines (CEBM), over 13,000 pieces of used red packets were collected. The result presents an active environmental care attitude from our colleagues after Chinese New Year. All collected Red Packets have been sorted by Canon branded and non-Canon branded to be reused internally and donated to Greeners Action to arrange for other public usage respectively.

11 Jan 2020 — Canon Hong Kong enthusiastically sponsored and supported the annual fundraising walkathon “Walk for The Green Earth” and sent its hiking team to challenge 12km night walk in Sai Kung Pak Tam Chung, organized by The Green Earth on 11th January 2020. All participants have brought along their own reusable water bottles and food containers, took their litter home and avoid unnecessary waste generation to countryside.
