    RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM

HONG KONG, 26th September 2024 — Canon officially launches the new compact and lightweight fast F2.8 constant aperture standard zoom lens, RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM. Being the first F2.8 constant aperture non-L RF Zoom lens, RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM marks the dawn of a new era in RF Lenses. The new design concept emphasizes a balance of size, image quality, functionality, and price, bringing a more affordable F2.8 zoom lens option to photo amateurs and content creators.

    Lightweight and Compact Build Design

RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM is roughly the size of a can of soda in your hand. Its lightweight design, weighing approx. 495g and measuring approx. 92.2mm in length, means you can comfortably shoot all day without feeling weighed down. It features a single large diameter lightweight UD lens in the front element, a new compact IS unit and a retractable lens design to help reduce the size and the weight, achieving compact and lightweight portability.

    Amazing Image Quality

RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM newly developed 15 elements in 12 groups optical design with the use of 2 UD lenses and 2 Glass-Molded (GMo) Aspherical lenses also help suppress various aberrations to achieve high rendering performance, offering high quality images equivalent to the RF24-105mm F4 L IS USM. Users can enjoy beautiful and soft bokeh at any focal length throughout the easy-to-use 28-70mm zoom range and F2.8 constant aperture.

Excellent Image Stabilization and Dust & Drip Resistant

The use of Its built-in Optical Image Stabilizer offers up to 5.5-stop[1] shake compensation at center and attains up to 7.5-stop shake compensation at center and 7.0-stop in peripheral[2] when paired with EOS R-series cameras with In-Body Image Stabilization, to facilitate low-light and hand-held shooting. RF28-70mm F2.8 IS STM also features high level of durability and shock resistance with dust-and-water-resistant design[3] equivalent to that of L-series lenses, giving peace of mind to users when shooting outdoor.

    Other Features:

    • 9-blade circular aperture delivers beautiful and soft background blur.
    • 0.24m (MF) and 0.27m (AF) minimum focus distance at 28mm.
    • 0.24x max. magnification at 0.35m focusing distance at 70mm.
    • Equipped with Leadscrew type STM featuring a magnetic sensor that reads the motor’s rotational speed. By increasing the motor’s rotational speed and adopting feedback control, high-speed and high-precision AF has been achieved.
    • Supports Electronic Full Time Manual Focus[1] during One-Shot or Servo AF.
    • Compatible with Focus Breathing Correction[2] during movie shooting.
    • “Focus mode / Control Selector” switch design enables swift switching of “Focus / Control Ring” for manual focusing or Control Ring operation such as aperture, shutter speed, ISO speed or exposure compensation adjustment.
    • Renowned Super Spectra Coating and optimized shapes of lens elements help to improve anti-ghosting and flare performance.
    • Optional Lens Hood EW-73D further enhances flare resistance.
    • Made in Japan.
