    RF 10-20mm F4 L IS STM

HONG KONG, 11th October, 2023 — Canon announced today the launch of new RF full frame lens — the RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM, the world’s first 10mm focal length ultra-wide angle full frame lens with auto focus, bringing a stunning ultrawide-angle of view and delivering an unprecedentedly wide field expression. This new lens achieves a remarkable compactness and lightweight design with a length of approx. 112mm and weight of approx. 570g.

RF 10-20mm F4 L IS STM features built-in Optical Image Stabilizer with Canon’s newly developed control algorithm to correct the peripheral camera-shake blur that greatly affects the peripheral image quality of wide-angle lenses, and succeeded in incorporating new and unique “Peripheral Coordinated Control”[2] into the coordinated control of in-lens IS and the camera’s in-body IS. It can be used to more effectively compensate for peripheral blurs that cannot be corrected with in-lens IS or in-body IS alone. It provides higher image quality and sharpness in the peripheral of the entire photo, and also reduces peripheral small shakes for movie[3].

The RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM provides professional photographers and video content creators with the best selection to meet their needs for handheld shooting in narrow spaces, as well as capturing the magnificent architecture, vast landscapes and astrophotography etc.

    RF10-20mm F4 L IS STM – The World’s First 10mm ultra-wide angle full frame lens with auto focus[1]

Made for: Professional photographers and videographers, Advanced amateurs
Best for: Landscape, Architecture and Astronomy

    • Compact and lightweight design with a length of approx. 112mm and weight of approx. 570g
    • Built-in Optical Image Stabilizer with new Peripheral Coordinated Control[2] to reduce peripheral blurs for photo due to small shakes and reduces peripheral small shakes for movie[3].
    • Optical Image Stabilizer offers up to 5.0-stop[4] shake compensation, when paired with EOS R-series cameras featuring In-Body Image Stabilization, up to 6-stop[5] shake compensation can be achieve through Coordinated Control IS
    • 1 customizable Lens Function button is newly provided on the side of lens barrel
    • Incorporates the RF lens control ring to adjust assigned settings such as ISO speed, shutter speed or aperture value directly from the lens
    • Use of 1 UD Glass-Molded (GMo) aspherical lens and 2 Glass-Molded (GMo) Aspherical lenses to achieve excellent corner-to-corner resolution[6]
    • Incorporates 1 Super UD Lens and 2 UD lenses to correct chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range
    • Application of SWC (Subwavelength Structure Coating) and ASC (Air Sphere Coating) on 4 lens surfaces to reduce lens flare and ghosting commonly seen in wide-angle lenses
    • 0.12x max. magnification at 0.25m minimum focusing distance
    • Equipped with Leadscrew type STM to provide high-speed AF and smooth Movie AF, a position sensor is incorporated to shorten start up time

[1] As of 10th October 2023, among all interchangeable lens for cameras compatible with 35mm full frame sensor (excluding fisheye lenses). Base on Canon Research.
[2]Peripheral Coordinated Control is automatically activated when combined with a compatible camera (EOS R5 Ver.1.9.0 or later. As of October 2023) and Movie Digital IS is turned off.
[3] Movie Digital IS is recommend when panning heavily or when the shake is large.
[4] CIPA Standard, Focal Length: 20mm, EOS R is used. In yaw/pitch direction.
[5] CIPA Standard, Focal Length: 20mm, EOS R3 is used. In yaw/pitch direction.
[6] Multiple exposure shooting is not supported on EOS R5/R6/R/Ra/RP, it is also not possible to shoot multiple exposures with another lens using images shot with this lens. The lens distortion correction on the camera is set to [Enable] automatically when in use.
[7] For EOS R camera supporting electronic full-time manual focus. Please refer to camera’s instruction manual for details.
[8] Available on EOS R6 Mark II / EOS R8 / EOS R50. As of 10th Oct. 2023. When shooting movie with the wide focal length, the focus breathingcorrection may cause distortion or slight movement of the screen edge depending on the conditions.
[9] With EOS R3/EOS R5/EOS R6 Mark II/EOS R6/EOS R7/EOS R, however it is not recommended for use under rain.
