Terms & Conditions of Canon Hongkong Company Limited: “EduTech Horizons: Pathways to A Smarter Future” Event
1. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Canon”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is the organizer of the “EduTech Horizons: Pathways to A Smarter Future” Event (the “Event”) to be held at 8 Peking Road, Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, Hong Kong, Ballroom A, The Langham, Hong Kong on 5 May 2026 from 14:00 to 16:30.
2. We welcome your participation in the Event. Your participation is completely voluntary. Please read these terms and conditions of the Event (this “Agreement”) carefully. For the purpose of this Agreement, “Participant(s)” and “you” are used interchangeably. Upon registering for the Event, and/or participating in the Event, you shall be deemed to have read, understood and agreed to this Agreement.
Personal Data
3. Upon registering for the Event and/or participating in the Event, you acknowledge and agree to the collection, use, storage, transfer and/or processing of your personal data by Canon (and/or through its service provider(s)) for the purpose of the Event, and/or for following up with your requests related to the Event. Any personal data involved is limited to the Participant’s company name, name, position, contact number, email address, business name card and/or any other reasonable personal data for the sole purpose of the Event.
4. Participants’ personal data collected will be used by Canon (and/or through its service provider(s)) for one or more of the following purposes:
i. For statistical and analytical purposes;
ii. For confirming, notifying and following up with the Participants’ registration, dealing with the Participants’ enquiries, keeping record, confirming and/or updating the Event’s arrangement and verifying the Participants’ identity;
iii. For creation, processing and maintenance of the Participant’s participation record for the administration and monitoring of the Event;
iv. Where you have opted in for our direct marketing messages and promotional materials, for sending you information relating to our consumer imaging and information products and services and business imaging solutions and production printing products and/or services; and
v. Any other legitimate purposes as may be required or authorized under the applicable laws.
5. Your participation in the Event and/or Survey and your agreement to our collection, use, storage, transfer and/or processing of any of personal data is voluntary and independent. If Participants do not provide sufficient information, Participants may not be able to participate in the Event and/or Survey. The personal data you provide is mainly for use within Canon and/or our affiliated companies but the information may also be disclosed by Canon to other third parties for the purposes stated above, if required. Canon will process any personal data provided by the Participants in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) and with Canon’s Privacy Policy as may be amended from time to time. 6. You acknowledge and agree that any personal data provided to us may be processed, accessed, stored and/or transferred outside Hong Kong and/or Macau and/or to our affiliates or third-party service providers including but not limited to cloud server providers situated outside Hong Kong and/or Macau. Such locations may offer a different level of protection of personal data. If we transfer your personal data outside Hong Kong and/or Macau, we will make sure to protect your personal data by applying the level of protection required under applicable data privacy laws.
7. Separately and in addition, Participants may freely decide whether to agree to become Club Canon member and if yes and for Participants who are Hong Kong residents only, whether to agree to receive direct marketing messages and promotional materials on consumer imaging and information products and services and business imaging solutions and production printing products and/or services from Canon (and/or through its service provider(s)) by checking the relevant opt-in box in the Event registration form and/or Survey. Such opt-in decision is entirely optional and shall be separate and independent and shall not affect Participants’ eligibility to the Event and/or the Survey and/or the Gift (as defined below) in any circumstances.
8. Canon (and/or through its service provider(s)) may take photos and/or videos during the Event and/or Survey for record purposes and/or promotion of Canon’s future events, products and/or services. Participants consent their images to be captured in such photos and/or videos (“Photos and Videos”). Participants hereby permit Canon and/or its affiliated companies and/or service providers to use, edit, modify, reproduce, publish and/or disseminate any such Photos and Videos, by any means or in any manner, for any purposes including for Canon’s internal records, marketing, publicity, promotional or any other purposes as Canon considers appropriate, whether within or outside of Hong Kong, and on any platform that Canon thinks fit, including but not limited to Canon’s website, social media platforms (e.g. Facebook and LinkedIn) and/or other publications.
9. In relation to redemption of Gift, Participants acknowledge and agree that third party provider may separately request Participants to provide personal data. Relevant matters shall be subject to the privacy policy and/or terms and conditions of relevant third party. Canon shall not be responsible for any legal liability in respect thereof.
Survey and Gift Redemption Arrangement
10. A gift of one hundred (100) K Dollars (the “Gift”) may be offered to Participants who have successfully completed the Survey at the Event venue. The quantity of Gifts is limited to eighty (80) only. The Gifts are offered on a first-come, first-served basis while stocks last. Each Participant is eligible to the maximum number of ONE (1) Gift only. Maximum TWO (2) Participants from each company are eligible to the Gift.
11. Eligible Participants shall redeem the Gift by scanning the QR code on the redemption card within a specified time period. For redemption details, please refer to the instructions on the redemption card.
12. Photos of the Gift are for reference only.
13. The Gift is non-exchangeable for cash or any other products, non-refundable, non-transferrable and non-resalable.
14. Canon shall not bear any responsibility for replacing any damaged, lost or stolen Gift.
15. If due to any reason, including but not limited to a shortage, or discontinuance or delay in the production of Gift, Canon is unable to distribute the Gift in accordance with this Agreement, Canon reserves the right to, at its sole and absolute discretion, postpone the distribution of the Gift or substitute the Gift with any other item of similar value, without any prior notice. Participants are not entitled to select the style or color of the Gift.
Miscellaneous
16. Canon reserves the sole and absolute right to disqualify or exclude any participants from participating in the Event if the Participant:
(i) commits a breach of this Agreement;
(ii) provides untrue, incomplete or inconsistent personal information;
(iii) participates in the Event in any illegal or dishonest manner; or
(iv) is reasonably considered by Canon to be suitable to be disqualified or excluded.
17. Canon (and/or through its service provider(s)) may take photos and/or videos during the Event for record purposes and/or promotion of Canon’s future events, products and/or services. Participants consent their images to be captured in such photos and/or videos (“Photos and Videos”). Participants hereby permit Canon and/or its affiliated companies and/or service providers to use, edit, modify, reproduce, publish and/or disseminate any such Photos and Videos, by any means or in any manner, for any purposes including for Canon’s internal records, marketing, publicity, promotional or any other purposes as Canon considers appropriate, whether within or outside of Hong Kong, and on any platform that Canon thinks fit, including but not limited to Canon’s website, social media platforms (e.g. Facebook and LinkedIn) and/or other publications.
18. All time is based on the time of receipt at Canon’s server.
19. Canon is not responsible for and shall not be liable for any loss caused by any problems or technical malfunction of communication network or computer software or hardware, malfunction of internet and/or internet system; or due to any mistake made or actions by the Participant during the online registration or the Event.
20. Canon shall not be liable to Participants for any injury, loss, damage, cost and expense directly or indirectly suffered by Participants (including but not limited to, loss of profit, loss of saving, loss of goodwill, loss of revenue or loss of contract, whether anticipated or actual, or any special indirect or consequential damages of any nature whatsoever) or any action, claim and proceeding taken against Participants by any third party or parties in connection with, incidental to and consequential upon the performance of Canon, its employees, independent contractors and/or partners in relation to the Event. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary, to the extent permitted by law, Canon’s total aggregate liability in contract, tort, equity or otherwise for any loss or damage arising out of or in connection with the Event shall be limited to HK$100.
21. Canon shall not be responsible for any legal liability in respect of any products and/or services provided by third parties to the Participants during the Event including but not limited to the use of venue or catering services, etc., or any loss or damage arising from the use of or inability to use the products and/or services. Canon makes no representation or warranty as to the quality of any of the products and/or services.
22. In case of any disputes, Canon reserves the right of final decision.
23. Canon shall have the sole and absolute right towards the Event, including the right to cancel, postpone or change any details of the Event without prior notice to any parties.
24. Canon reserves the right to amend, delete, supplement and interpret this Agreement from time to time.
25. Any failure or delay by Canon to exercise or enforce any right under this Agreement shall not be deemed to be a waiver of that right nor operate to bar the exercise or enforcement of it at any time or times thereafter.
26. Each provision of this Agreement shall be enforceable independently of each of the others and its validity shall not be affected if any of the others is invalid. In the event any provision of this Agreement is determined to be illegal, invalid or unenforceable, the validity, legality and enforceability of the remaining provisions of this Agreement shall not be affected.
27. A person who is not a Participant in the Event has no right at law to enforce any provision of this Agreement.
28. This Agreement shall be governed and interpreted by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China (“Hong Kong”). Participants hereby irrevocably submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong Courts in connection with any disputes arising from or in connection with this Agreement.
29. This Agreement is prepared in English and the Chinese translation is provided for reference only. In case of any inconsistency or ambiguity, the English version shall prevail.
