Canon Hong Kong Received the ESG Commendation Certification from

Sing Tao News Corporation for the First Time

In recent years, the intense extreme weather events that happened worldwide have underscored the urgent threat of climate change. In consequence, sustainable development has garnered rising attention, with investors and the public increasingly focusing on the "Environmental, Social and Governance" (ESG) performance of companies. As a responsible imaging products manufacturer, Canon is dedicated to incorporating sustainable principles throughout different corporate activities. The contribution of Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) in driving sustainability has been widely acknowledged. We are grateful to receive the "ESG Commendation Certification" for the first time at the “Outstanding ESG Enterprises Recognition Scheme” jointly organized by Sing Tao News Corporation and The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa, President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong, expressed his heartfelt gratitude for receiving the award for the first time "We are truly honored to receive this prestigious award and thank you for the commendation from Sing Tao News Corporation, the PolyU and all the esteemed judges. We will continue to uphold Canon’s corporate philosophy “Kyosei” and encourage all stakeholders to work together towards carbon neutrality and a sustainable future.”

Canon Hong Kong is always keen on advocating green and low carbon practices. As early as 2009, we launched the "Ink Cartridge Recycling Program" to encourage the public to recycle used inkjet printer cartridges. The program was extended to the education sector in 2011 with the "Canon x McDull Inter-school Ink Cartridge Recycling Competition" to empower the next generation with essential environmental knowledge. Over 276,000 ink cartridges were collected with CO2 emissions reduced equivalent to the amount absorbed by 414 trees annually. Besides, we have implemented a series of energy saving measures within the office premises. To showcase the power of emerging technologies in enhancing business efficiency and sustainability, we invite corporations, NGOs and students to join the “Green Intelligence Office Tour” and share insights about eco-friendly and intelligent workplaces. We also encourage employees to go green and participate in various recycling activities, such as Lai See Reuse, Recycle and Food Donation, Moon Cake / Box Recycling and Used Items Recycle and Donation.

At social level, Canon Hong Kong adheres to the principle of “Imaging for Good” to demonstrate corporate social responsibilities through our imaging expertise. We support the photography activities organized by charities as “Imaging Partner” and allow the underprivileged children to enjoy creative “Shoot & Print” fun activities to unleash possibilities through the interactive “Imaging for Fun” workshops. Since its establishment in 2015, our Corporate Volunteer Team engages with various segments of society through a range of social services covering education, community care, environment and cultural improvement, with over 9,000 service hours accumulated.
