    Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team Share Warmth and Love By Distributing Hot Meal Boxes to the Needy in Yau Tsim Mong District

    For those underprivileged, both goods relief and psychological support can help them overcome difficult times. Canon Hongkong Company Limited (Canon Hong Kong) works with various NGO for years to provide support to them. This year, Canon Hong Kong joined hands again with social enterprise restaurant “Gingko House” to pack and distribute hot meal boxes and garb bags in conjunction to celebrate 2 traditional Chinese Festival, Buddha’s birthday on 27 May 2023 and the Dragon Boat Festival on 24 June 2023, The volunteer team was formed specially by the President and CEO of Canon Hong Kong - Mr. Kazuhiro Ozawa and the fellow management team with other staff together.

    Mr. Ozawa was softened by the outcome of the activity and said, “Joining volunteer work among Yau Tsim Mong District made me understand more how the pandemic affecting the life of the underprivileged. They are facing financial hardship and need not merely aid in food and other materials, but also a positive blessing and attention to them. It is more important to let them know that they will never walk alone, and I am pleased that my team can work together towards this goal, to assist those in need.”

    Since the outbreak of the pandemic, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team participated in 6 hot meal packing and distributing activities, distributed 946 meals and 568 grab bags, shared love and care among the needy. And Gingko House, our trust-worthy partner in meal box distribution, is a social enterprise that promotes the employment of the elderly. The Restaurant also promotes “Love Project” to seek for donation from the society, to prepare meal box for underprivileged groups. The beneficiaries include the elderly, street sleepers, CSSA families and the low-income group. Gingko House also cares about the health of the underprivileged, and that’s why they serve vegetarian menu and do not add MSG to their meals.
