Canon Hong Kong Junior Volunteer Joined Cookie Workshop with Rehabilitants

Volunteer work brings beneficiaries different support, and the voluntary participants also benefit from the work mentally. They would be able to learn new skills and gain satisfaction during the process, so it is worth for children to join. On 23 September 2023, one week before the Mid-Autumn Festival, Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteer Team joined St. James' Settlement (SJS) in cookie workshops with rehabilitants managed by SJS in the Delightful Integrated Vocational Rehabilitation Services Centre, to spread love and joy by sharing hand-made cookies with SJS beneficiaries such as underprivileged children or singleton elderly for their enjoyment during Mid-Autumn Festival.

Apart from providing an inclusive working environment and opportunities for the rehabilitants, the workshop was also a parent-child activity which welcomed the volunteers to participate with their children, and to inherit the spirit of charity to the next generation through this meaningful voluntary work.

The event was divided into AM and PM sessions, with 15 volunteers participating in each of them. Rehabilitants assisted as tutors to guide volunteers to make cookie dough, using "cookie gun" to shape the cookies and show them how to use sealing machine for packaging. With the efforts of the “Junior Volunteer”, a total of 360 packages of cookies were baked and packaged throughout the day, which is quite impressive in results. After the event, St. James' Settlement thanked the "Junior Volunteer" and presented them with beautiful certificates printed on recycled paper, bringing a perfect ending to this meaningful event.

Canon Hong Kong Corporate Volunteers and their children participated in the Cookie Workshop together to inherit the spirit of charity to next generation.
