Elevate Your Golf Game with Canon’s New Image Recording Rangefinder
The PowerShot GOLF captures still photos and videos, perfect for reviewing your play—or simply preserving good memories!
HONG KONG, 21 May 2024 — Canon today announced its venture into the laser rangefinder market with the PowerShot GOLF, a golf rangefinder capable of recording videos and images on the green.
Improve Your Technique with Measurement and Performance Analysis
While the PowerShot GOLF is packed with the latest features found on many rangefinders, it has the added advantage of photo and video recording capabilities. With a few steps, users can capture photos or videos with superimposed measured yardage data. These provide comprehensive information for users to evaluate and improve one’s technique.
In addition to straight-line measurement, the PowerShot GOLF has a slope mode that measures and displays slope-adjusted distances. This feature will help users determine the distance to hit and which golf club to use when elevation changes make it challenging to judge the distance. The pin-locking function targets the closest subject for range finding when multiple subjects are detected. If the measurement button is half-pressed, the continuous range finding function activates the laser continuously. When used in conjunction, the features help ensure that the yardage is measured to the flagpole and not the trees behind it.
Clear Details of Distant Targets
The high-quality 2.36 million-dot OLED EVF provides a clear view of the scene, complete with information overlay and a 60-fps refresh rate. This supports a close-up view that allows users to survey faraway target areas carefully before hitting the ball. The field of view starts from equivalent to 410mm on a full-frame camera and goes up to 820mm equivalent with the 2x digital zoom. The rangefinder also comes with optical image stabilisation that keeps the target steadily in sight for users.
Designed for Convenience on the Green
Compact and lightweight, the PowerShot GOLF is ergonomic with well-placed buttons, giving users quick and intuitive one-handed access to functions on the field. Its IPX4 water resistance rating means that users can utilise it even in light rain. It can be easily charged via its USB-C port and uses the MicroSD card as memory media, making it convenient for data transfer.
