Change in Canon Printer Driver Digital Signature on Windows

Thank you for your support. We would like to inform customers of an upcoming change related to printer driver digital signatures on Microsoft Windows operating systems.

Microsoft has announced a policy update under its End of Servicing Plan for Third-Party Printer Drivers on Windows, which impacts how printer drivers are validated and distributed on Windows platforms. As part of this change, Microsoft is gradually discontinuing the automatic granting of Microsoft electronic (WHCP) signatures for newly released third-party printer drivers on newer versions of Windows. To support continued availability and compatibility of Canon printer drivers, Canon will begin applying our own digital signatures to future printer driver releases.

What this means for customers

  • Canon printer drivers are designed to install normally on supported Windows versions, even though they are signed by Canon rather than Microsoft.
  • Windows may display a standard security confirmation message during installation.

When installing a Canon printer driver, you may see a confirmation prompt on your PC, as shown in the example below.

Please click "Install" to proceed with the installation.
