RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ - RF Lens World

RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ

The RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ is the first full-frame RF lens to feature a built-in power zoom. This L lens is optimised for movie shooting. It delivers impressive zooming performance even during unassisted, single-person shooting.

To meet the needs of creators who want a slightly greater range of wide-angle coverage than standard lenses, this lens has a 20mm angle of view as its widest setting. By maintaining the maximum aperture (F value) consistently throughout the zoom range, the lens can support movie shooting with consistent exposure levels.

When used in combination with the EOS R6 V cameras or other power-zoom-compatible cameras, the power-zoom function performs at its full potential. You can select from two zoom speed settings: [Fast] and [Slow]. Each speed mode can be adjusted in 15 different levels. Furthermore, the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ provides smooth, multi-step, variable-speed zoom operation depending on the rotation angle of the zoom ring. The zoom mode switch allows the user to switch quickly between power zoom and manual zoom, helping you to frame your shot exactly as intended.

Two aspherical lens elements are optimally positioned within the optical system to achieve a compact, lightweight design while maintaining high image quality across the entire frame. The use of three UD lens elements effectively corrects chromatic aberration throughout the zoom range, delivering sharp, vivid images with minimal colour bleeding. In addition, Air Sphere Coating (ASC) technology is used to reduce the possibility of lens flare and ghosting, even at wide-angle settings.

The lens alone provides image stabilisation (IS) that reduces camera-shake blurring in the centre of the frame as effectively as an increase of up to 6 stops*1 in shutter speed. Through coordinated control with the in-body IS of a compatible camera, it can achieve image stabilisation from the centre to the periphery as effectively as an 8-stop*2 increase in shutter speed. When combined with movie digital IS, it can reduce camera-shake blur even more effectively in movies. The use of a rear focus design suppresses the problem of optical breathing (changes in the angle of view as the focus shifts). Even when used with a camera that does not feature the electronic focus breathing correction function, this lens helps the user to shoot movies with stable composition thanks to minimal changes in the angle of view.

This lens has a compact, lightweight design, measuring approximately 98.4mm in length and weighing about 420g. When paired with the EOS R6 V, it serves as a highly portable system that is easy to carry at all times, and mobile enough to keep pace with the photographer's imagination and inspiration.
