Features

Compact and lightweight 24-inch 4K Reference DisplayResponse to diverse on-location shooting needs

The new DP-V2410 is a reference display that delivers high-quality 4K imaging performance in a compact and lightweight 24-inch and approximately 12 kg body designed for on-location use with high mobility. To accommodate use in a variety of shooting-location environments, the DP-V2410 is housed within a rugged monoframe metal body. Additionally, facilitating convenient on-site handling, installation and use, the display is equipped with a carrying handle, stand and front-panel operation buttons, while its interface includes an HDMI terminal capable of displaying 4K 60P video. The device is also able to operate from a DC 24V power supply.

The DP-V2410 incorporates a new IPS LCD panel with 4096 x 2160 pixel resolution with an aspect ratio of 17:9. Assuming use in brightly lit conditions, the display panel incorporates anti-glare properties that minimize undesirable reflected glare and background reflections.

HDR (High Dynamic Range) display capabilitiesContributing to greater workflow efficiency

The DP-V2410 includes an HDR display mode that supports the SMPTE ST 2084 standard advocated by the Society of Motion Picture & Television Engineers, which encompasses a wide dynamic range. With the new display on-hand during shooting, professionals can compare shots with and without HDR early in the production process and confirm final image quality, contributing to greater workflow efficiency as well as improved color expression and image quality.

Realizes connectivity1 with ARRI camera systems

The firmware update supports connectivity with ARRI camera systems, incorporating a function enabling the display of metadata acquired from ARRI cameras. Additionally, a quality sync function automatically changes the display’s picture quality based on camera settings for improved on-location convenience.

Enhanced coordination with Cinema EOS SystemRealize high-quality 4K imaging performance

Incorporating a built-in debayer function, the DP-V2410 enables the screening of 4K RAW footage shot on select Cinema EOS System cameras with a single 3G-SDI cable. The new display does away with the need for an external debayer box, making possible a 4K production environment with fewer cables. The DP-V2410 can access camera metadata and display it on-screen while a quality sync function further contributes to on-location convenience by allowing users to automatically change the display’s picture-quality settings based on the metadata. Apart from the existing Canon Log and Canon Log 2 gamma setting, DP-V2410 will also support the new Canon Log 3 gamma1 setting incorporated in the EOS C300 Mark II cinema camera. The DP-V2410 enables the display of footage shot in Canon Log 32,, which makes possible 15 stops of dynamic range. By pairing the EOS C300 Mark II with the new display, professionals can achieve an expanded realm of imaging expression.

The DP-V2410 supports the ACESproxy (ACES 1.0) transfer standard for the ACES (Academy Color Encoding System) color management standard advocated by AMPAS (the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences). When used in conjunction with input devices supporting the ACESproxy standard, the combination contributes to enhanced production workflow efficiency by ensuring consistent color performance on-set during shooting and in the editing room.

High-image-quality performance and reliability

The DP-V2410 incorporates a Canon-designed RGB LED backlight system and IPS LCD panel that reproduce a rich array of colors. In addition to support for a variety of broadcast standards, including ITU-R BT.709, EBU, SMPTE-C and Adobe RGB, as well as the DCI-P3 digital cinema standard, the display offers compliance with the ITU-R BT.2020 next-generation broadcast standard.3 In addition to the display method that has been employed to date for screening footage in the ITU-R BT.2020 color gamut, the DP-V2410 provides an additional display method that places priority on the display of hues that fall outside of the display’s native color gamut.

The DP-V2410 features an image-processing engine for display use developed by Canon that corrects in-plane non-uniformity to realize highly precise uniformity for on-screen colors and brightness. The 10-bit panel driver and image-processing engine work together to make possible the display of 1024 gradation levels for each RGB color to deliver exceptionally smooth and accurate gradation characteristics. The IPS LCD panel and Canon image-processing technology combine to achieve a contrast ratio of 2000:1.

The display provides a wide viewing angle of 89 degrees in each direction from the top, bottom, left and right (contrast ratio of 10:1 or greater). Because the DP-V2410 minimizes changes in color and contrast that can occur at different viewing angles, it allows multiple viewers to take part in such procedures as the confirmation of image quality. Prior to shipment, the DP-V2410 undergoes highly precise color adjustment. Furthermore, the unit incorporates its own control system that automatically corrects color and brightness to ensure long-term stable display performance. Using a third-party external sensor,4 users can calibrate the display in accordance with usage environment and application without the need for a PC.

Extensive shooting-assist functions

Contributing to greater operational efficiency and accuracy along with a reduction in system equipment, the DP-V2410 features a range of shooting-assist functions in response to diverse on-location shooting needs.

1) Peaking, Zoom
A Peaking function enables at-a-glance confirmation of subjects in focus, a feature that is particularly beneficial for determining focus when working in high-resolution formats. Additionally, when “4K Input” is selected, the DP-V2410 facilitates focus adjustment through a Zoom function that lets users to select what portion of the image they would like to magnify and offers 2x, 4x and 8x zooming.

2) Waveform monitor, vectorscope
The inclusion of a waveform monitor and vectorscope let users confirm signal data while working. The Optimized waveform monitor1 is able to display settings for Canon Log, SMPTE ST 2084 and other signal inputs; includes a 2-Sample Interleave Division for the split transmission of 4K and UHD video signals; and makes possible the two-screen and four-screen display of 2K and HD video.

3) False Color, Backlight Control
A False Color function allows different colors to be displayed based on differences in brightness, which assists in camera exposure adjustment and the visual monitoring of exposure status. Clipped whites (brightness level of 100% and higher) are displayed in red while crushed blacks (brightness level of 0% and lower) are displayed in blue.

Furthermore, DP-V2410 has also included a viewing mode “Local Dimming”1 under Backlight Control that suppresses the black level when boosting the white level to realize improved contrast for enhanced image clarity.

4) Audio level meter
An audio level meter displays the audio levels of signals. The unit enables the simultaneous display of up to 8 channels of both SDI and HDMI inputs.

1 Requires firmware upgrade, detail and releasing date will be further announced.
